Georgetown Hosts DePaul on Sunday

WASHINGTON - The Georgetown University women's basketball team will host the DePaul University Blue Demons in a BIG EAST Conference matchup on Sunday afternoon at McDonough Arena. The opening tip is scheduled for 2 p.m.

About the Hoyas
  • Georgetown (11-11, 4-7 BIG EAST) took home a 63-36 victory over the Xavier University Musketeers on Wednesday evening in a BIG EAST Conference matchup at Cintas Center in Cincinnati.
  • Graduate student Siobhan Ryan led the way with 16 points, five rebounds, three assists and two steals. Her 16 points were good enough to put her over 1,000 in her career including both her time at Richmond and on the Hilltop.
  • Fellow graduate student Kelsey Ransom also scored 16 points, and pulled down seven rebounds with three assists.
  • Senior Ariel Jenkins had an all-around performance posting 11 points and 13 rebounds as well as four blocks and three steals. It marked her eighth double-double of the season.
  • The Blue & Gray shot 45.7% (21-46) from the field, and allowed the Musketeers just 27.1% (16-59) shooting in the contest.
  • Georgetown outrebounded Xavier, 43-22, and forced 16 XU turnovers on 13 steals.
  • Ransom leads the league in scoring (19.6 ppg) and sits at fourth in steals (2.1 spg).
  • Jenkins is second on the team, averaging 12.4 ppg. She leads the league on the glass with 10.2 rpg and sits at fourth in the BIG EAST in blocks, averaging 1.4 per game.
  • Junior Victoria Rivera rounds out those averaging in double figures, scoring 11.7 ppg. She currently leads the BIG EAST in both 3-pointers, with 53, and 3-point percentage, hitting 37.3 percent.
About the Blue Demons
  • DePaul is 11-14 overall and 6-6 in BIG EAST play. The Blue Demons are coming off of a 76-63 loss to Providence College Thursday evening on the road in Providence, Rhode Island.
  • Limited to just nine points in the first quarter, DePaul fell behind early. The Blue Demons fought back in the second half to come within three, but couldn't complete the comeback.
  • The Blue Demons outrebounded the Friars 40-36 and turned in 40 points in the paint to Providence's 28.
  • DePaul was led by 19 points from Meg Newman and Jorie Allen, followed by Taylor Johnson-Matthews with 18 points.
  • Allen sits at second in the league in scoring, averaging 19.0 ppg.

  • This will be the 35th meeting between the two BIG EAST teams; the Hoyas are 6-28 all-time against DePaul.
  • The Hoyas are 4-12 in the series at home.
