WASHINGTON – Georgetown University's men's lacrosse team returned to action after a 10-day respite with a 17-10 victory over High Point at Cooper Field on Saturday afternoon. The No. 12 Hoyas improve to 5-2 overall while the Panthers fall to 3-5 on the year.

How it Happened
- The opening half was a back-and-forth affair as the Hoyas looked to find their groove after a 10-day break. High Point jumped on the board early, scoring the first two goals before Georgetown responded with a pair to even things up at 2-2. The Panthers added a late breakaway goal off a failed GU clear in the waning seconds of the first quarter to lead 3-2 after 15 minutes of action.
- In the second, back-to-back goals from the Hoyas gave the Blue & Gray their first lead, up 4-3 at the 11:16 mark. High Point responded, closing out the half on a 3-0 run to lead 6-4 going into halftime.
- Coming out of the break, both teams exploded for 11 combined goals in the third quarter. Georgetown scored the first two, knotting the game at 6-6, High Point responded with two to lead 8-6 and the Hoyas countered with a pair to re-even the game at 8-8 with 8:02 to play in the stanza. The Panthers retook the lead at the 6:38 mark to go up 9-8, but it was all Georgetown from there as the Hoyas outscored their guests 9-1 in the final 21:38 of the game.
- Georgetown dominated the fourth quarter, blanking the Panthers 6-0 in the final frame en route to the 17-10 win.
High Point Notes
- Owen Bunten led the Panthers with four goals while Colin Cooke and Justin Wixted both had a goal and two assists.
- Lucca Accardo won 17-of-29 faceoffs and led all players with seven ground balls.
- In goal, Zack Overend (3-3) had 16 saves in the loss.
Georgetown Notes
- With his five points, Carroll moves into 29th place all time on the Georgetown career scoring list with 106 points. He passes Bo Stafford (102) and Lucas Wittenberg (103).
- Plath's four caused turnovers give him 18 on the season, tied for 20th most in a single season on the Hilltop. Only Gibson Smith IV (19 in 2018) and Ty Banks (24 in 2024) have recorded more during their freshman campaign at Georgetown.
- Georgetown's 17 goals are the most scored in a game this season.
