WASHINGTON – The Georgetown University baseball team defeated Mount St. Mary's 4-2 on Tuesday afternoon. With the win, Georgetown improves to 9-16 on the season while the Mount slides to 10-13.
ON THE RECORD
"I am really proud of our group today after a tough weekend, but just proud of how he came out against a really good team. I thought
Johan Franco gave us an unbelievable start, which he has done all year, and he just gave us length, five innings and a career high six strikeouts were excellent. I thought
Axel Johnson was solid when he came in behind him and
Jake Anderson really settled us when we needed to get a big double play to get out of a jam.
Matthew Sapienza came in to close it out and it was great to see him have success like we know he is capable of doing. I thought there were a couple of defensive plays that were big for us today especially when
Jackson Thomas made that big diving catch with two runners on. I thought offensively we found a way to score as Thomas and
Connor Price gave us some good RBIs when we needed them. Overall, I am really proud of our group and how we competed today, and we look forward to another challenging series this weekend." - Head Coach
Edwin Thompson
