Women’s Lacrosse Falls at No. 15 Loyola

WASHINGTON – The Georgetown women's lacrosse team (3-4) fell 14-10 at No. 15 Loyola (4-2) on Wednesday afternoon at Ridley Athletic Complex. 

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Sophia Loschert got the Hoyas on the board first with a goal at the 9:47 mark of the first quarter. The Greyhounds responded with two-consecutive goals from Chase Boyle. GU responded with two goals of their own to reclaim the lead 3-2. Loyola took advantage of a player-up opportunity to tie the contest at the 4:08 mark of the first. The Blue & Gray closed out the first quarter in the lead (5-3) after two goals in the final two minutes of the quarter. 
  • Maley Starr scored at the 9:16 mark of the second quarter to extend GU's lead 6-3. Loyola responded with two goals to come within one at halftime 6-5. 
  • The Greyhounds came out strong in the third quarter, scoring five-consecutive goals to regain the lead 10-6. GU and Loyola exchanged a pair of goals before Loschert scored in the final 17 seconds of the third quarter. 
  • Hanna Bishop opened up the fourth quarter with a goal at the 12:12 mark. The Greyhounds scored two goals to extend their lead 13-9. Anne McGovern scored a final goal for the Hoyas at the 9:36 mark but Elisa Faklaris would solidify Loyola's 14-10 victory with a final goal at the 6:51 mark. 
OF NOTE
  • Loschert and McGovern led the Hoyas with three goals each while Starr, Steer, Bishop and Gracie Driggs each added one. 
  • In the circle, Driggs led the GU with six draw controls. 
  • Trinity Koetje led the defense with three caused turnovers. 
  • In net, Leah Warehime made five saves. 
UP NEXT
The Hoyas will stay on the road as they face Delaware on Saturday, March 8. Opening draw is scheduled for 11 a.m.
