WASHINGTON – The Georgetown University baseball team defeated the Towson University Tigers 3-2 on Saturday afternoon behind a walk-off home run from
Blake Schaaf. With the win, GU improves to 5-9 on the season while Towson slides to 4-10.
ON THE RECORD
"I thought our team responded today. Matt Sapienza gave us an unbelievable start, his best start since coming back from injury. You know, for the most part, it was just pitching and defense for both teams, and we had to find a way to come up there and get a big one. But I thought
Marshall Whitmer, those three innings he gave us were huge and then
Jack Volo came in and kind of established himself and got us those big outs. I thought our team didn't have many hits but we still found a way to score when we needed to.
Blake Schaaf, I mean, obviously had that huge homer to win it for us and that is a momentum builder. Our team battled and I loved how we competed and now we will try to go win another one tomorrow" - Head Coach
Edwin Thompson
