WASHINGTON – The Georgetown women's lacrosse team (6-5, 1-1 BE) held off Villanova (8-3, 2-1 BE) and earned a 13-9 victory on Cooper Field on Wednesday evening.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Hoyas started off strong with a four-goal scoring run to open the first quarter. Sydney Pappas notched the Wildcats' lone goal of the quarter at the 4:09 mark.
- After a scoreless opening eight minutes of the second quarter, Elena Torres landed a free-position goal to bring Villanova within two. Rileigh Meyer found the back of the net for GU with 58 seconds left in the quarter. Villanova responded 43 seconds later with a goal from Leslie Iorio. At halftime, Georgetown led 5-3.
- Maley Starr got the second half started with a free-position goal at the 14:05 mark of the third quarter. The Hoyas and the Wildcats went on to exchange two pairs of goals before the Hoyas notched the final goal of the third quarter at the 3:32 mark.
- The Wildcats scored four goals in the fourth, but the Hoyas would score four of their own to earn a 13-9 victory.

The Hoyas will hit the road this weekend to take on Xavier on Saturday, April 5. Opening draw is scheduled for 11 a.m. at Corcoran Field.
