Hoyas Move Up to Second Following Second Round at BIG EAST Championships

WASHINGTON – With a quartet of Hoyas moving up on the individual leaderboard, the Georgetown University women's golf team has moved into second place, 12 strokes out of first, after the second round of action at the 2025 BIG EAST Women's Golf Championships, presented by Jeep. The Hoyas sit at 28-over 604 (308-296) in the six-team field that is competing on the par-72, 6,092-yard course at Riverton Pointe in Hardeeville, South Carolina. Xavier leads the way at 16-over 592 (298-294).

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Megan Gormley remains as the top Hoya on the leaderboard at 5-over 149 (76-73) through a pair of rounds. The co-captain is two strokes off the leader to sit in fifth place. The graduate student tallied five birdies to go along with seven pars on the day for a 36-hole total of eight birdies (3/5) and 16 pars (9/6).
  • Gabriella Eifrig is tied for sixth place at 6-over 150 (77-73) following 36 holes. The freshman managed a trio of birdies, all on the front nine, to go along with 11 pars. For the tournament she has three birdies (0/3) and a squad-best 24 pars (13/11).
  • At 8-over 152 (78-74), Catherine Qiu is tied for eighth place on the leaderboard. The frosh tallied a trio of birdies and 10 pars over 18 holes on the day for a two-round total of five birdies (2/3) and 18 pars (8/10).
  • Claire Chen is tied for 15th place at 13-over 157 (77-80) following a pair of rounds. She managed one birdie as well as nine pars in the second round for tournament totals of three birdies (2/1) and 19 pars (10/9).
  • Moving up three spots, Georgia Ruffolo is tied for 24th at 17-over 161 (85-76). She added a trio of birdies and eight pars for a two-round total of four birdies (1/3) and 15 pars (7/8).
