CINCINNATI – The Georgetown University baseball team dropped both games in its doubleheader at Xavier on Saturday, 6-2 and 15-3. With the losses, GU slides to 13-29 overall and 2-9 in BIG EAST play while Xavier improves to 26-19 and 10-4 in conference action.
ON THE RECORD
"I thought in game one,
JT Raab gave us another phenomenal start, like he has all year, going six and two thirds, allowing just one run. I thought
Axel Johnson coming in to get the lefty to get us out of that jam was really awesome. Then for our guys to fight and to take the lead in the 10th up two to one, you know, unfortunately, we couldn't hold it there. We had everything we wanted. We just didn't get it done in game one, and credit tribute to them.
In game two, I felt that
Andrew Williams didn't have his best stuff, but I thought that he gave us a chance there. We had the lead and then gave it back. He just kept battling for us to give us a couple more innings, which we needed. Unfortunately, the game kind of got out of hand after that.
Owen Carapellotti had two homers for us and his homer in the tenth of game one gave us a chance to win it there. We just have to put together more consistent at bats, and overall have to better out of the bullpen in game two. They are a top team in the country for a reason and we need to regroup and get ready to come back out here tomorrow and compete." - Head Coach
