Georgetown Defeats Maryland 11-8 Behind Four Home Runs

WASHINGTON – The Georgetown University baseball team secured the season series over the Maryland Terrapins on Tuesday night with an 11-8 victory. This is the first time in over 20 seasons that GU has defeated Maryland twice in a season. With the win, GU improves to 14-30 overall while the Terps slide to 20-26 on the season.

ON THE RECORD
"What a great day for the DMV. Unbelievable crowd here at Capital One and we are appreciative of all the fans that came out and saw a really good baseball game between two teams that are really competitive. We had a great start with Kavi Caster and Connor Price hitting those two big home runs in the first. I thought that was really important, but I also felt that today we didn't stop scoring and that was really great to see. We were able to continue on throughout the game and then when we scored, we got stops, and then when they scored, we got some more stops as well. We answered all night, but it started on the mound with Griffin O'Connor who was electric, going five innings and getting another win for us. Axel Johnson, I thought right behind him was really good and then we did enough at the end with Jake Anderson and Matthew Sapienza to close it out to get a win. First time in 20 plus years beating those guys twice in a season and we know that is hard to do and obviously we want to continue that into tomorrow as we take on Mount St. Mary's." - Head Coach Edwin Thompson
