Georgetown Falls 8-6 in Game Two Against Seton Hall

WASHINGTON – The Georgetown University baseball team dropped game two of the series against Seton Hall 8-6 on Saturday afternoon. With the loss, Georgetown slips to 14-37 on the season and 2-15 in conference play while the Pirates improve to 22-28 and 8-9 in BIG EAST action.

ON THE RECORD
"I thought Griffin O'Connor gave us a good start considering he started in a pinch today. He gave us an opportunity to stay in it all five innings he was out there. Kavi Caster and Owen Carapellotti were fantastic offensively for us today and did some really good things. We will regroup and get ready to go for game three tomorrow." - Head Coach Edwin Thompson

In the ensuing at bat, Price laced a double to left field which allowed Carapellotti to score, giving GU an early 1-0 advantage. The Pirates responded with an RBI single in the bottom half of the inning tying the game at 1-1.
  • SHU was able to take the lead in the bottom of the second as the Pirates scored three runs on four hits giving SHU a 4-1 advantage at the end of the second.

GU was unable to bring either runner home leaving two stranded in the fifth.
  • Schaaf started the sixth with a leadoff walk. The sophomore stole second and advanced to third on a throwing error by the catcher putting a runner 90-feet from home with no outs. Jaden Sheffield then earned a walk and stole second putting two runners in scoring position for GU. A double play for the Pirates got them out of the jam as GU was unable to scratch across the tying run. SHU was able to put two on in the bottom half of the frame, but the Hoya defense thwarted their offensive efforts with two fly outs and a ground out.
  • The Pirates were able to scratch one across in the seventh after a leadoff single and stolen base put a runner in scoring position. A sac fly advanced him to third before an RBI single up the middle gave the Pirates the 5-3 lead.
