WASHINGTON – The Georgetown University baseball team dropped both games of its doubleheader against St. John's 15-10 and 12-10. With the losses, GU slides to 14-34 overall and 2-13 in conference play while the Red Storm improve to 24-20 overall and 9-6 in BIG EAST action.
ON THE RECORD
"I was really grateful for all the alumni and all the fans that came out this weekend to support our guys, and obviously really proud of what our Alumni Association and our community is doing. We are incredibly thankful for Mrs. Wilk and her family, her daughters who came out as we honored Coach Wilk today. I thought that was really special to be a part of.
I am proud of our fight. You know, we had a chance to close it out. But unfortunately, we couldn't get the stops we needed today. Just really proud of our fight in the first game, there was some good stuff that was going on, with home runs, and big hits but we just didn't get it done. Game two we were down eight, within the last part of the game, and just for our guys to fight and compete was really encouraging to see. I thought
Jake Anderson gave us a chance there in the back part of the game and
Kavi Caster's big grand slam,
Blake Schaaf had three hits. I thought we gave ourselves a chance and that's all we can ask for. Unfortunately, we came up a little short. They robbed the home run; they had some other plays but really proud of our fight all weekend." - Head Coach
Edwin Thompson
