Georgetown Hosts No. 3/4 Pitt on Friday Evening

WASHINGTON - The Georgetown University men's soccer team will continue its six-match homestand with a matchup against the No. 3/4 University of Pittsburgh Panthers on Monday evening under the lights at Shaw Field. Kickoff is scheduled for 7:30 p.m., and the game will be broadcast live on ESPN+ with Dan Helfrich and Spencer Ford calling the action.

  • Georgetown (0-2) is coming off of a tough 1-0 loss to local-rival Maryland on Monday evening in the team's home opener.
  • GU outshot Maryland 18-15, and had six shots on goal to the Terps' five. The Hoyas were awarded seven corners to UMD's eight.
  • The Hoyas had opened the season with a 2-1 loss at High Point the previous week.
  • Freshman Tim Logan scored GU's first goal of the year in the 88th minute, but it was not enough.

About the Panthers
  • Pitt is coming off of a 3-2 victory over Michigan State on Monday.
  • The Panthers scored three goals in the opening 10 minutes of action, including two from graduate midfielder Arnau Vilamitjana.
  • Michigan State would add two late to make the final 3-2.
  • Pitt opened the season with a 1-0 victory over Quinnipiac on August 21. The lone goal in the game was also scored in the opening 10 minutes of action.
  • Reigning ACC Defensive Player of the Year senior Casper Svendby was named to the ACC Preseason Watch List and Pitt was picked to finish third in the conference, garnering four first place votes.
