Hoyas Travel to Big Orange Bash

WASHINGTON – The Georgetown University volleyball team is set to compete in the Big Orange Bash hosted by Clemson this Thursday, September 18 to Friday, September 19. The Hoyas will kick off the three-match event in Clemson, South Carolina with two matches on Thursday against Norfolk State at 11 a.m. and against Clemson at 7 p.m. Georgetown will wrap up the event with a 1:30 p.m. match against Charleston Southern on Friday at 1:30 p.m.

About the Hoyas

  • Georgetown enters the third year under Head Coach AJ Bonetti. The Hoyas finished last season with a 4-14 mark in conference play and an overall record of 11-19.
  • The Hoyas are averaging 11.9 kills per set with a .204 hitting percentage, while adding 12.8 digs and 2.0 blocks per set on defense.
  • Dionna Mitchell and Samantha Soderlund lead the offense. Mitchell has been pacing the attack with 116 kills, a .169 hitting percentage, and 2.97 kills per set. Soderlund is close behind at 87 kills, a .155 hitting percentage and 2.42 kills per set. Maria Filippova ranks third on the squad with 75 kills, averaging 2.14 per set.
  • Mitchell leads the squad with 19 service aces on the season. Juleigh Urbina has notched 11 aces and Kamryn Lee-Caracci has nine.
  • At the net, Lee-Caracci leads the defense with 26 total blocks, followed by Berkeley Ploder and Katherine McGregor with 22 and 21, respectively.
  • Graduate transfer Jade Smith has made a strong debut, posting 92 digs and averaging 2.63 per set in her first season with the Blue & Gray.
  • The Hoyas welcomed five newcomers to the roster in 2025: Jessica Lee, Katherine McGregor, Sydney Mercado, Fiona Turnbull, and Samantha Soderlund.
