GU Women’s Golf Currently Eighth Through Two Rounds at Nittany Lion Invitational

WASHINGTON – Through the first day of the Nittany Lion Invitational, the Georgetown University women's golf team currently sits in eighth place at 33-over 609 (299-310) following two rounds of action. The 16-team field is competing 54 holes on the par-72, 6,363-yard Blue Course at the Penn State Golf Club in State College, Pennsylvania.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Georgia Ruffolo is the top Hoya on the leaderboard in a tie for 10th place at 1-over 145 (72-73). For the day, the graduate student tallied five birdies (3/2) and 25 pars (12/13).
  • Freshman Sunny Wang sits at 9-over 153 (75-78) to tie for 41st through 36 holes of golf. She tallied a quartet of birdies, all in round one, to go along with 20 pars (7/13).
  • Newcomer Mimi Burton, in her Hoya debut, is tied for 47th at 10-over 154 (76-78) through the first day of play. She matched the squad-best of five birdies with four in round one and one in round two. She added 18 pars (6/12) on the day as well.
  • A pair of Hoyas are tied for 76th in sophomores Gabriella Eifrig and Olivia Ty. Eifrig's 17-over 161 (76-85) was fueled by a pair of birdies, one apiece in each round, to go along with 23 pars (14/9).
  • Ty, playing as an individual, sits at 17-over 161 (78-83), behind a pair of birdies, both in the first round, to go along with 18 pars, with nine apiece in the first two rounds.
  • Catherine Qiu is tied for 81st at 21-over 165 (84-81). The sophomore managed a pair of birdies, both in the second round, to go along with 16 pars, eight apiece in each of the first two rounds.

The Hoyas return to action on Monday, September 22 for the final round of the Nittany Lion Invitational. The Hoyas will take a weekend off before competing at the Princeton Invitational on October 4-5 at the Springdale Golf Club in Princeton, New Jersey.
