WASHINGTON – The No. 21/25 Georgetown University women's soccer team defeated the Seton Hall Pirates 3-1 on Wednesday evening. With the win, Georgetown improves to 6-2-2 overall and 2-0 in BIG EAST action while Seton Hall slips to 3-3-4 and 0-2 in conference play.
Head Coach Dave Nolan
"This was another challenging road game in conference play. Seton Hall came out with great energy and without really creating chances put us on our back foot with some set pieces. Once we managed to settle the game down, we scored two wonderful goals from
Natalie Means and
Maja Lardner. We maybe even could have had a few more. Both girls were lively all night and really caused the Pirates plenty of anxious moments.
At halftime, I felt we needed a third goal to kill off the game and unfortunately, we had a penalty kick called against us for handball which Seton Hall scored, and it gave them a real lift. Thankfully, we scored a very good third goal when
Shay Montgomery finished off some really good work from
Caroline Spengler. Credit to Seton Hall, they hung around and nearly nicked one towards the end but thankfully
Cara Martin made a good stop, and we saw out the game after. We now have to get ready to host a talented UConn team this Saturday night."
