Hoyas Open BIG EAST Play On The Road at Seton Hall and St. John’s

WASHINGTON – The Georgetown University volleyball team is set to open BIG EAST play on the road, visiting Seton Hall at Walsh Gymnasium in South Orange, New Jersey, on Friday, September 26, before facing St. John's at Carnesecca Arena in Queens, New York, on Saturday, September 27. First serve for both matches is scheduled for 5 p.m.

About the Hoyas

  • Georgetown enters the third year under Head Coach AJ Bonetti
  • The Hoyas are averaging 12.2 kills per set with a .215 hitting percentage, while adding 13.3 digs and 2.0 blocks per set on defense.
  • Dionna Mitchell, Samantha Soderlund and Maria Filippova lead the offense. Mitchell has been pacing the attack with 166 kills, a .204 hitting percentage, and 3.12 kills per set. Soderlund and Fillipova are close behind, each at 100 kills. Filippova is boasting a .260 hitting percentage and 2.04 kills per set and Soderlund is averaging 2.44 per set.
  • Mitchell leads the squad with 20 service aces on the season. Juleigh Urbina has notched 19 aces and Grace Albaugh has 15.
  • At the net, Kamryn Lee-Caracci leads the defense with 35 total blocks, followed by Berkeley Ploder and Katherine McGregor with 32 and 28, respectively.
  • Graduate transfer Jade Smith has made a strong debut, posting 127 digs and averaging 2.59 per set in her first season with the Blue & Gray.
  • Urbina paces the squad with 343 assists at setter, posting 6.47 per set.
