WASHINGTON – The Georgetown University volleyball team defeated the North Carolina Central University Eagles, 3-2 (25-23, 23-25, 25-7, 19-25, 15-9), on Friday night at McDonough Arena in Washington, D.C. With the win, GU improves to 1-3 on the season while the Eagles slide to 2-4 on the year.

"I think we had a really good game plan but it was a rocky start for us. I think once we all dialed in, then the chemistry and the rhythm started to flow and it was really good. We pushed ourselves tremendously, and did our thing towards the end of the game."

Hoya Highlights

• The Hoyas were led offensively by Dionna Mitchell, who posted 17 kills with a .209 hitting percentage. Samantha Soderlund contributed 14 kills on a .286 mark, while Maria Filippova added nine kills.
• Kamryn Lee-Caracci and Katherine McGregor anchored the Hoya defense, each recording a team-best four blocks.
• Mitchell and Taylor Mercado each recorded three service aces apiece.
• Juleigh Urbina paced the Hoya offense with a team-high 41 assists and also contributed 13 digs.
