Georgetown Football Defeats Wagner 31-20 in Home Opener

WASHINGTON –The Georgetown football team battled through a rain delay to capture a 31-20 victory over Wagner in the 2025 home opener on Cooper Field on Saturday afternoon.

ON THE RECORD
"Great team win today. I am very proud of our kids. I was really impressed by how we came out and closed the fourth quarter after we had an extended weather delay. We had a lot of weapons on offense today. I am extremely happy with both Danny's and Dez's performance at quarterback. I think they're doing a great job of steering our offense in the correct direction. Nick Dunneman is one of the best skill players in the conference. It's awesome to see him playing on offense as well as impacting the game on special teams with a punt returned for a touchdown. Our defense also showed up when they had to, especially in the second half. GianCarlo Rufo, our defensive captain, had a stellar performance. I am looking forward to seeing him build on that next week." - Head Coach Rob Sgarlata on today's contest.
