Swimming & Diving Begins Spring Season at George Washington

WASHINGTON -The Georgetown University men's and women's swimming & diving teams will take on cross town rival George Washington at Charles E. Smith Center on Saturday, January 17 at 9 a.m. The diving portion of the meet will begin on Friday, January 16 at 5 p.m.

ABOUT THE HOYAS
  • During the fall, the men's team went 4-0 in dual competition, while the women went 3-1. 
  • At the West Virginia Invite, Owen Watkins broke his 50 free school record with a first-place swim of 19.44.
  • The 200 free relay team of Grant Closson, Daren Chen, Troy Keen and Watkins captured third place while breaking a program record with a time of 1:20.34 at the West Virginia Invite. 
  • On October 25, the Georgetown University men's swimming & diving team captured its first conference win of the season over Villanova (199.5-100.5) at McCarthy Pool.
  • After facing Villanova, freshman Heidi Wu and Sophomore Watkins were named BIG EAST Athletes of the Week.
  • In the 200 backstroke, Wu placed first and broke a pool record with a time of 1:58.10. Wu also finished first in the 100 back (56.05) and the 200 back (1:58.10). She helped the 200 medley relay team capture first with a time of 1:42.66.
