Hoyas Drop Contest to Cornell

WASHINGTON –  The Georgetown University football team fell to the Cornell Big Red, 35-14 on Saturday afternoon at Cooper Field. With the setback in Washington, D.C., the Hoyas move to 0-4 while the Big Red improve to 2-1.

ON THE RECORD

"Every game this season, we're going to face well-coached football teams. When opportunities present themselves, we have to make plays. It's my job as the head coach to continue putting our players in the right positions to be successful. We have a good football team, and we'll continue to trust our process, create positive momentum and learn from this weekend as we work to improve Georgetown football. The opponent doesn't matter right now. Our focus needs to be on getting better and continuing to develop our players. I'm excited about the alumni support throughout Homecoming. We had more than 50 members of our Georgetown football family spend time with our players on Friday and Saturday. That support is one of the most impressive things about Georgetown. I'm looking forward to getting back to work tomorrow, especially alongside our players, coaches and staff. We have a great group of people working extremely hard to build a successful program." - Head Coach Rob Sgarlata
