Georgetown Women’s Lacrosse Falls to No. 2/3 Maryland

WASHINGTON – The Georgetown women's lacrosse team (2-1) fell to the No. 2/3 Maryland University Terrapins (3-0) 10-7 on Wednesday night at Cooper Field.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Anne McGovern and Sophia Loschert each found the back of the net in the first quarter the Hoyas led 2-0.
  • GU continued its scoring run into the second quarter. Molly Davies and Gracie Driggs scored to make the contest 4-0. Maryland responded with a goal at the 1:39 mark to make the game 4-1.
  • At the 13:50 mark of the third, McGovern scored a goal to make the game 5-1. Loschert found the back of the net with a goal at the 11:36 mark. Maryland responded with three-consecutive goals to make the game 6-4.
  • The game went back and forth at the start of the fourth quarter. Maryland would go on to score five unanswered goals. At the final whistle, Maryland won 10-7
OF NOTE
  • The Hoya offense was led by McGovern, Driggs, and Loschert with two goals apiece. Driggs had her 100th career goal.
  • Amanda Brille and Reagan Ziegler led the squad with three ground balls apiece.
  • Brille controlled the circle with three draw controls.
  • Christina King led the squad with four caused turnovers.
  • Leah Warehime had nine saves in net.
  • The Hoyas outshot the Terrapins 18-16 on goal.
