Hoyas Fall 15-9 at Notre Dame

WASHINGTON – Georgetown University's No. 3/4 men's lacrosse team dropped a 15-9 decision at No. 8/7 Notre Dame in a top-10 matchup indoors at the Loftus Sports Center on Sunday afternoon in South Bend, Indiana. With the loss, the Hoyas even their record to 1-1 on the year while the Fighting Irish improve to 3-0 overall.

Hoya Highlights How it Happened

The Irish added another goal with 8:49 to play to lead 2-0 before Georgetown posted its first shot of the game with just under seven minutes to play. The Hoyas turned the tide from there and cut the deficit to one courtesy of Liam Connor's first goal at a Hoya at the 3:59 mark and knotted things up at 2-2 with 2:26 remaining thanks to Rory Connor's goal assisted by Crogan.
  • Georgetown took its first lead of the game 2:33 into the second quarter as the Connor brothers connected to go ahead 3-2, but ND responded just six seconds later off the faceoff to make it 3-3. The Irish would add another three-straight goals to lead 6-3 before Rory Connor scored again to keep it a two-goal game. Down the stretch, Notre Dame would score twice in the final three minutes, including with 45 ticks remaining, to head into halftime leading 8-4.
  • Coming out of the locker room, Notre Dame struck first just 1:15 into the half but the Hoyas responded with back-to-back goals from Miller and Rory Conner within 47 seconds of each other to make it 9-6. Notre Dame answered with consecutive goals of its own, but Miller completed his hat trick with two more goals in the frame to keep it within three, down 11-8, heading into the final 15 minutes of action.
  • In the fourth, Notre Dame clamped down and scored four-straight goals spread out over the first 10 minutes of the frame to lead 15-8. Georgetown would manage one late goal with 4:04 to play to salvage the 15-9 final score.
