Georgetown Faces No. 1/1 UConn on Thursday

WASHINGTON - The Georgetown University women's basketball team will travel to the No. 1/1 University of Connecticut Huskies on Thursday in a BIG EAST Conference matchup at PeoplesBank Arena in Hartford, Connecticut. The opening tip is scheduled for 2 p.m., and the game will be broadcast live on TNT and truTV with J.B. Long and Christy Winters-Scott calling the action.

About the Hoyas
  • Georgetown (13-14, 6-12 BIG EAST) is coming off of a tough 66-58 loss to the Butler University Bulldogs on Saturday afternoon at McDonough Arena in GU's annual Play4Kay game.   
  • Graduate student Brianna Scott once again led the Hoyas with an all-around performance and her 11th double-figure scoring outing of the season. The grad student managed 15 points, 10 rebounds, two blocks and a perfect 7-7 from the line.
  • Sophomore Destiny Agubata scored 11 points as the other Hoya in double figures, she also managed eight rebounds.
  • The Blue & Gray shot 35.7% (20-56) from the field, and allowed 41.8% (23-55) shooting by Butler.
  • The Hoyas outrebounded the Bulldogs, 35-33, and GU forced 14 BU turnovers on eight steals.
  • For her efforts in GU's 1-1 week, Scott was named to the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll on Monday.
  • Scott averaged 18.5 points, 7.5 rebounds, and 2.0 blocks, and was a perfect 11-for-11 from the line in a 1-1 week for Georgetown.
  • In the 62-60 win at St. John's on Wednesday, Scott tied a career-high 22 points, to go with a team-high five rebounds, two steals and two blocks.
  • Junior Khia Miller leads the way for the Hoyas this season with 9.9 ppg.
  • Scott and Agubata are averaging 8.7 ppg apiece to rank among the scoring leaders, while Agubata leads the way on the glass with 4.8 rpg.
About the Huskies
  • Top-ranked UConn (29-0, 18-0 BIG EAST) is coming off of an 81-38 win over Providence this past weekend.
  • Azzi Fudd had 13 points and four steals as tied a program record by forcing 39 turnovers and extending the Huskies' winning streak to 45 games.
  • Sarah Strong had 13 points in 13 minutes for the Huskies and UConn had a season-high 26 steals.
  • The Huskies have clinched the BIG EAST regular season title as well as the top seed in the upcoming conference tournament.
  • UConn is the reigning national champion after winning the title in 2025.

  • Georgetown is 6-58 all-time against UConn and 2-27 on the road.
