Georgetown Men’s Basketball Hosts Creighton on Wednesday

WASHINGTON – The Georgetown University men's basketball team is set to host the Creighton University Bluejays at Capital One Arena on Wednesday evening. Tipoff is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.

ABOUT THE HOYAS
  • In the last outing, Georgetown (12-10, 4-7 BE) defeated Butler 77-64 at Hinkle Fieldhouse for its third win in a row. KJ Lewis and Vince Iwuchukwu led the Hoyas in scoring with 17 points apiece. Iwuchukwu made six field goals, including a 1-for-1 performance from beyond the arc and a perfect 4-for-4 at the free throw line. Lewis registered five made field goals, including a 3-for-5 outing from deep. Malik Mack rounded out those in double figures with 14 points on five made field goals. Isaiah Abraham and Iwuchukwu each pulled down a team-high six boards to lead the Hoyas on the glass. Mack and Jeremiah Williams paced the offense with six assists apiece. 
  • For his efforts in a 2-0 week, Mack was named to the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll on Monday after averaging 15.0 ppg and 6.5 apg.
  • A trio of Hoyas are scoring in double figures led by Lewis who is tallying 14.9 ppg, followed by Mack (13.9 ppg) and Iwuchukwu (10.8 ppg). Lewis ranks ninth in the BE in scoring.
  • C. Williams leads the Hoyas on the glass grabbing 5.5 rpg, followed by Lewis and Iwuchukwu with 5.2 rpg.
  • Mack paces the offense with 4.4 apg, which ranks sixth in the league, followed by Lewis who averages 2.7 apg.
  • Lewis ranks third in the BIG EAST and leads the Hoyas in strips with 2.0 spg.
  • Before the start of the 2025-26 season, Lewis was named to the Preseason All-BIG EAST Second Team and Mack was named to the Preseason All-BIG EAST Third Team. The Hoyas were also selected sixth in the BIG EAST Preseason Coaches' Poll in Head Coach Ed Cooley's third season at the helm.
 
ABOUT THE BLUEJAYS
  • Creighton enters the matchup with a 12-10 record for the 2025-26 season, including a 6-5 mark in BIG EAST play.
  • In its last outing, Creighton fell to then-No. 2 UConn 85-58 at CHI Health Center Omaha on Saturday evening. Nik Graves led the Bluejays in scoring with 17 points on 5-for-6 shooting, including a trio of treys. Blake Harper scored 11 points on three made field goals and a 5-for-6 performance at the charity stripe. Harper had a team-best five rebounds while the trio of Graves, Josh Dix and Shane Thomas dished out two assists apiece.
  • Dix leads Creighton in scoring with 11.8 ppg, followed by Austin Swartz (11.5 ppg), Jasen Green (10.6 ppg) and Graves (10.0 ppg) to round out those averaging double figures.
  • Green is averaging 5.0 rpg to lead Creighton on the boards.
  • Graves and Dix pace the Creighton offense with 3.5 apg and 2.8 apg, respectively.
  • Creighton is led by Head Coach Greg McDermott in his 16th season.
 
ABOUT THE SERIES
  • Georgetown and Creighton will meet for the 29th time in program history, with the Hoyas trailing 18-10 in the series.
  • The last meeting between the two teams was on January 13, 2026, where the Hoyas fell in a heartbreaking 86-83 overtime loss on the road. Mack led a quintet of Hoyas in scoring on 7-for-10 shooting from the field. Halaifonua added 16 points off the bench while KJ Lewis tallied 14 points, C. Williams posted 12 points and Iwuchukwu scored 11 points. Lewis and Halaifonua snagged a team-high six boards while Mack and C. Williams paced the offense with four assists apiece.
  • Georgetown's last victory was on December 18, 2024, an 81-57 win at Capital One Arena.
  • Cooley is 14-15 all-time against Creighton and sits at 14-14 against McDermott in his career.
