Women’s Lacrosse Defeats American in Season Opener

WASHINGTON – The Georgetown women's lacrosse team (1-0) opened the 2025 season with a commanding 14-3 victory over the American University Eagles (0-1) on Friday afternoon at the Jacobs Complex.

ON THE RECORD
"Today was a great start for the Hoyas. I'm really proud of how our team has prepared all preseason, and they were ready to go and come out and compete against a great American team. And it was really nice to see us put all the pieces together. And I think you saw us go on a big run in the first quarter where we were attacking on all cylinders offensively, and we started to move really well as a unit defensively and come up with some costly turnovers and some big saves in the goal. And I think we showed a lot of promise for this season, and we had a lot of people that were able to contribute to today's win. So overall, just a really great team win and a really great start to the season with." - Head Coach Caitlyn Phipps
