WASHINGTON – The Georgetown University baseball team fell to the Youngstown State University Penguins 3-2 on Friday evening at Capital One Park. With the loss in Tysons, Virginia, the Hoyas slip to 13-10 on the season while the Penguins improve to 3-15.
ON THE RECORD
"Great job by Youngstown. Their starter was outstanding and their bullpen was great. I thought our bullpen and our starter did a great job. Kai Leckszas gave us a good start. I didn't have the team prepared today, you know, unfortunately offensively. So, gotta reset ourselves, come back tomorrow, and hopefully that will have better results. But, you know, you have to give it to that pitcher. He's one of the best in the country, for a reason. Just on the offense, we left too many guys on base, and that was the ball game." - Head Coach Edwin Thompson
HOYA HIGHLIGHTS
HOW IT HAPPENED
- After three scoreless innings in the contest, the Hoyas struck first in the bottom of the fourth when Price reached home plate on a fielding error to take the 1-0 lead. In the following inning, Peek managed to get home on another error from the visiting team that extended the Hoya lead to two.
- The visiting Penguins responded in the top of the sixth frame with a three-run home run over the left center wall to take the lead, 3-2.
- Youngstown's home run in the sixth inning would be the only scoring needed to take the 3-2 win.
