SYRACUSE, N.Y. – Georgetown University's 13th-ranked men's lacrosse dropped an 18-12 decision at No. 8 Syracuse on Sunday afternoon at the JMA Wireless Dome. With the loss, the Hoyas fall to 3-4 on the year while the Orange improve to 8-2 overall.

How it Happened
- Georgetown took an early 2-0 lead, scoring goals from Bickel and Cesare – both assists by Liam Connor – at the 13:14 and 11:50 marks, respectively Syracuse got on the board with 9:14 to play but Mason's goal just 52 seconds later put the Hoyas back up 3-1. The Orange would close out the frame on a 3-0 run to take a 4-3 lead after 15 minutes of action. Moore had five saves in the opening quarter.
- In the second, Syracuse pushed its lead to 5-3 at the 13:31 mark but the Blue & Gray responded with Mason's first career goal to keep it a one score game at 5-4. From there, the Orange rallied off seven-straight points over the next six minutes and change to go ahead 12-4. Georgetown clamped down and closed out the half with a pair of goals to salvage a 12-6 score into the break.
- Syracuse added another three-straight goals to open the second half to lead 15-6, but the Hoyas responded with four consecutive scores of their own to make it 15-10 with 2:07 remaining. The Orange closed out the third with two goals in the final two minutes to make it 17-10 with 15 minutes to play.
- Georgetown took advantage of four Syracuse penalties in the fourth, converting one man-up goal and another just after the Orange regained even-strength. The Hoyas pulled within five, down 17-12, but a late SU goal with 2:06 left on the clock sealed the 18-12 win for the home team.
Syracuse Notes
- Michael Leo led the Orange with five goals while Joey Spallina had two goals and four assists.
- John Mullen went 16-for-28 (.571) on faceoffs with 10 ground balls.
- Defensively, Riley Figueiras had two caused turnovers and four ground balls.
- In goal, Jimmy McCool (8-2) had 17 saves in the win.

- Ty Banks moved into fifth-place all-time at Georgetown in caused turnovers, tying Alex Mazzone (B'22) with 52
- Moore moved into sole possession of eighth-place all-time in career saves at Georgetown with 424.
