WASHINGTON - Georgetown University's women's lightweight rowing team hit the water Sunday morning for a highly competitive dual against Wisconsin on the Occoquan Reservoir. The Hoyas delivered a standout performance in the premier event of the day, securing a victory in the Varsity Eight.
Racing in good rowing conditions with a consistent 3 to 5 mph tailwind, the Georgetown Varsity Eight crossed the finish line in 6:33.8, outpacing the Badgers by nearly five seconds. The Hoyas also claimed a win in the Varsity Double, with the duo of
Alisa Shchapova and
Cara Appleberry finishing in 7:46.2 to edge out Wisconsin by three seconds.
In the Varsity Four, Wisconsin managed to take the top spot in a tight race, finishing just ahead of the Georgetown crew with a time of 7:16.0 to 7:19.1.
