WASHINGTON – The Georgetown University baseball team defeated the North Carolina A&T State Aggies 17-6 on Friday night at World War Memorial Stadium. With the win in Greensboro, North Carolina, the Hoyas move to 16-10 on the season while the Aggies slip to 4-19.
HOYA HIGHLIGHTS
- JT Raab tossed 5.0 innings striking out three while only allowing two earned runs. With the win, Raab improves to 1-1 on the year.
- Connor Peek went 3-for-6 with five RBIs, three runs scored and a double.
- Jeremy Sheffield went 2-for-4 with three runs scored, an RBI, a walk and a double.
- Christian Hamilton was 2-for-4 with three runs scored, an RBI, a double and a walk.
- Connor Price was 4-for-5 with three RBIs, a double and a run scored.
- Dylan Larks went 3-for-5 with a pair of RBIs and two runs scored.
- AJ Solomon went 2-for-3 with two runs scored, two RBIs and a homer.
- Dante Pozzi went 1-for-2 with two runs scored, two RBIs and three walks drawn.
- Travis Ilitch went 2-for-5 with an RBI and a run scored.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Hamilton jumpstarted the Hoyas in the top of the first with a double down the right field line to score Sheffield, then came around to score on Price's RBI single to give Georgetown an early 2-0 edge.
- Georgetown broke it open in the top of the third as Larkins lined a two RBI single to center to score Hamilton and Price, then later crossed the plate on a sacrifice fly from Solomon to make it 5-0.
- Price added to the lead in the top of the fourth with an RBI groundout to bring home Sheffield, and Hamilton scored on a wild pitch to extend the advantage to 7-0.
- The Aggies responded in the bottom of the fourth with a two RBI single and a sacrifice fly, trimming the Georgetown lead to 7-3.
- The Hoyas answered right back in the top of the fifth as Ilitch drove in Larkins with a single, Peek followed with a two RBI fielder's choice to score Solomon and Pozzi, and later scored on a wild pitch to push the lead to 11-3.
- Peek launched a solo home run to left in the top of the seventh and Price followed with an RBI double to score Sheffield, stretching the lead to 13-3.
- The home team chipped away in the bottom of the seventh with three runs on a pair of RBI singles to cut the deficit to 13-6.
- Georgetown put the game out of reach in the top of the eighth as Solomon crushed a home run to right center, Peek added a two RBI double to score Pozzi and Illitch, and Sheffield capped the scoring with a sacrifice fly to bring in Peek for the 17-6 final.

- Solomon hit his first home run as a Hoya.
