WASHINGTON – Georgetown University men's lacrosse standout
Rory Connor was added to the Tewaaraton Award Watch List, as announced by The Tewaaraton Foundation on Thursday. Connor is the third Hoya this season to earn consideration for the prestigious honor, joining
Ty Banks and
Anderson Moore.
Founded in 2001, The Tewaaraton Award annually honors the top male and female college lacrosse players in the United States. The selection committees are made up of premier collegiate coaches and are appointed annually by The Tewaaraton Foundation.
Currently in his first season at Georgetown as a grad transfer, Connor leads the Hoyas with 14 goals and two assists for 16 points. He leads the NCAA in both goals per game (4.67) and shot percentage (.609). Connor opened the season with seven goals and an assist against Penn before tallying four goals against Notre Dame and adding three goals and an assist against Ohio State.
His accolades this season already include USA Lacrosse Magazine Player of the Week, USILA National Team of the Week, BIG EAST Offensive Player of the Week and a pair of BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll nods. In addition, he was tabbed a preseason honorable mention All-American by both USA Lacrosse Magazine and Nike/Inside Lacrosse.
