WASHINGTON – The No.16/18 Georgetown women's lacrosse team (4-2) fell in a hard-fought 9-8 contest to the No. 20/16 Loyola University Maryland Greyhounds (4-3) on Wednesday night at Cooper Field.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED

• Georgetown fell behind early as Loyola (MD) jumped out to a 3-1 lead in the first quarter, despite an early goal from Gracie Driggs.
• The Greyhounds continued their momentum into the second quarter, scoring two quick goals to extend the lead to 5-1. The Hoyas responded before the half with goals from Anne McGovern and Sophia Loschert—coming from a man-down effort-to cut the deficit to 5-3.
• Georgetown surged in the third quarter, using a 2-0 run with goals from Driggs and Loschert to tie the game at 5-5. Loyola answered with two late goals to regain a 7-5 advantage heading into the final frame.
• The fourth quarter saw a resilient Hoya squad score three straight goals, as Driggs found the net twice and Loschert added her third of the day to tie the game at 8-8 with 7:13 remaining. However, Loyola (MD) scored the go-ahead goal with 4:33 left on the clock and held on for the 9-8 victory.

OF NOTE

• The Hoya offense was led by Driggs with four goals and Loschert with a hat trick.
• Molly Davies paced the team with two assists.
• Molly Wood and Davies led the squad with two ground balls apiece.
• Trinity Koetje and Christina King each recorded two caused turnovers.
• Leah Warehime notched eight saves in the cage.
