No. 22 Georgetown Dominates Butler in 18-6 BIG EAST Victory

WASHINGTON – The No. 22 Georgetown University women's lacrosse team (10-4, 4-0 BIG EAST) extended its perfect start to conference play on Saturday afternoon, securing a commanding 18-6 victory over the Butler University Bulldogs (3-11, 0-4 BIG EAST). After a defensive opening frame, the Hoya offense exploded for 13 goals across the middle periods to secure their fourth consecutive BIG EAST win.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Georgetown jumped out to a 2-1 lead in the first quarter behind goals from Anne McGovern and Molly Davies.
  • The Blue & Gray broke the game open in the second quarter, outscoring the Bulldogs 7-2. The surge was fueled by multi-goal efforts from Davies and Reagan Ziegler, giving Georgetown a 9-3 cushion at the half.
  • Butler attempted a rally in the third quarter with three tallies, but the Hoyas matched the output to maintain a six-goal lead heading into the final frame.
  • The Hoyas punctuated the win with a dominant 6-0 fourth quarter, holding the Bulldogs scoreless for the final 15 minutes of play.
HOYA HIGHLIGHTS
  • Molly Davies and Reagan Ziegler powered the offense with four goals apiece. Ziegler's clinical performance included a 2-for-2 mark on free-position opportunities.
  • Anne McGovern recorded a six-point afternoon, tallying a hat trick (3G) and adding three assists.
  • Maia Pronti served as the primary facilitator, leading all players with four assists.
  • Sydney Richter and Lauren Steer each recorded multi-goal games with two scores apiece, while Gracie Driggs, Ryan Kinkead, and Della Goodman also found the back of the net.
  • Gracie Driggs was a force in the center circle, winning a season-high 13 draw controls to help Georgetown maintain a 17-8 advantage in the category.
  • The Hoyas dominated the stat sheet, leading in shots (41-15) and ground balls (9-8).
  • Graduate goalkeeper Leah Warehime anchored the effort in the cage, recording four saves and playing the full 60 minutes to secure the victory.

Following the victory, Georgetown moves to 4-0 in BIG EAST play and remains at the top of the conference standings.
