Hoyas Defeat Retrievers, 9-3

WASHINGTON – The Georgetown University baseball team defeated the UMBC Retrievers 9-3 on Tuesday at Alumni Stadium. With the win in Baltimore, Maryland, the Hoyas improve to 20-17 on the season and 2-4 in conference play while the Retrievers move to 16-15 and 5-4 in league action.

ON THE RECORD

"Really proud of our guys tonight. It was a great win. The game started off in a good back and forth game. Charlie Hendrix gave us a great start. Then we had a lightning delay. I really felt that when we came out and Jack Volo came in a difficult situation, got out of that jam, and we came back up and scored six as an offense and we scored two the next inning. You know, it just took the wind out of their sails and just truly in that inning, we had so many good at-bats. We took care of moving the baseball really well. I? felt that the rest of the night, you know, our bullpen did their job. I'm just really proud of our guys for getting our 20th win, but more importantly, just playing good baseball, and that was our goal coming into today. So, now we'll regroup and get ready for another game in a series against Butler." - Head Coach Edwin Thompson
