Hoyas Defeat St. John’s 18-11 to Earn a Share of BIG EAST Regular Season Crown

WASHINGTON – Georgetown University's No. 8/10 men's lacrosse team defeated visiting St. John's 18-11 to clinch at least a share of the 2026 BIG EAST Regular Season Championship. The Hoyas improve to 7-4 overall and remain undefeated at 4-0 in league play while the Red Storm fall to 2-11 overall and 0-4 in the BIG EAST.

Hoya Highlights How it Happened
  • A tightly contested opening quarter saw St. John's take an early lead just 62 seconds into the game before the Hoyas rallied off three-straight goals to lead 3-1 at the 6:31 mark. The Red Storm added another with 3:09 to play but both squads traded two-goal spurts the rest of the frame to give Georgetown a 5-4 lead after 15 minutes of action.
  • The Hoyas controlled the middle quarters, outscoring their guests 11-3 in the second and third combined.
  • Georgetown put together a six-goal streak spanning the third and fourth and held the Johnnies scoreless for 16:55 in that span.
  • A late St. John's comeback attempt with four-straight goals in the fourth quarter was too late and too short as the Hoyas sealed the 18-11 win with a Chari goal in the final minute of play.
St. John's Notes
  • Adrian Nowak led the Red Storm with three goals while Owen Rogers added two goals and two assists.
  • Max Scrio went 8-for-10 (.800) on faceoffs with eight ground balls while Ethan Wiegand went 7-for-21 (.333) with four ground balls and a goal scored.
  • In goal, Matt Nelson (2-11) had 11 saves in the loss.
Georgetown Notes
  • The win guarantees the Hoyas at least a share of the 2026 BIG EAST Regular Season Championship. Georgetown previously has won outright BIG EAST crowns in 2022 and 2023 with co-championships in 2021 and 2025.
  • Liam Connor moves into third place on the Hilltop in single season assists with 41, passing TJ Haley (C'24) in 2024.
  • Rory Connor is now tied for 12th-most goals in a campaign, tying Mark Murphy ('90) and Jake Carraway (B'20, MiM'21) with 44.
