Georgetown Prevails in Marathon 13-Inning Battle with Butler

WASHINGTON – The Georgetown University baseball team defeated to the Butler Bulldogs 14-5 in 13 innings on Sunday at Bulldog Park. With the win in Indianapolis, the Hoyas improve to 22-18 on the season and 4-5 in conference play while the Bulldogs slip to 15-24 and 5-4 in league action.

ON THE RECORD

"This was a gutsy win by everyone in our organization to find a way to get this job done. After being down 4-0, our guys just continued to chip away in the middle part of the game. And I? thought Kai Leckszas gave us a really good start. Gave up one hit, that was a home run, but other than that, he gave us a chance. And our bullpen was truly special. Max Whitmer and Ethan Rucker did their job. Jack Volo came in and got the big, big, strikeout. Griffin O'Connor, for two innings. Luke Jackman for two innings. Trajan Lee for an inning. But when you talk about a resilient team, and I've been a part of college baseball a long time, to have a team in the 13th inning score nine runs, it's truly remarkable of our offense. Truly proud of just how we found a way to win a series on the road in the BIG EAST. It's just so hard to do. I'm really, really proud of everyone, everyone contributed, and we're getting ready to come back on Wednesday." - Head Coach Edwin Thompson
