Ruffolo Drains Hole In One, Hoyas Sit Four Strokes Back at BIG EAST Championships

WASHINGTON – The Georgetown women's golf program turned in its best team round of the season, firing a 1-under 287 in the second round and currently sit in second place at the 2026 BIG EAST Championships, presented by JEEP. The seven-team field competed on the par-72, 6,080-yard course at the Callawassie Island Club. The Hoyas are currently 14-over 590 (303-287) and are four strokes behind Xavier's 10-over 586 (301-285) and one stroke ahead of St. John's at 15-over 591 (304-287)..

  • The tournament concludes with 18 holes scheduled for Monday, April 27. Monday's final round will be a double tee start, beginning at 8 a.m. ET off the first tee and 8:20 a.m. off the 10th.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Georgia Ruffolo tallied the second hole in one of her career as she aced the sixth hole to bolster her two-round score of 1-under 143 (73-70) to hold sole possession of fourth place. Following 36 holes, Ruffolo has tallied one eagle (0/1), six birdies (3/3) and 22 pars (11/11).
  • Sunny Wang is tied for eighth place at 5-over 149 (76-73). After the second round, the freshman tallied two birdies (0/2) and 27 pars (14/13).
  • Milla Sagel moved up one spot to tie for 11th place at 6-over 150 (77-73). Following the second round, Sagel has recorded three birdies (1/2) and 25 pars (12/13).
  • Gabriella Eifrig is tied for 13th at 7-over 151 (77-74). Through 36 holes, Eifrig has managed six birdies (4/2) and 19 pars (7/12).
  • Moving up 13 spots, Catherine Qiu is currently tied for 17th at 9-over 153 (82-71). Through two rounds, she has registered six birdies (2/4) and 18 pars (7/11).
  • Mimi Burton moved up one spot into a tie for 24th place at 12-over 156 (81-75). After a pair of rounds, Burton has recorded five birdies (2/3) and 16 pars (7/9).
 
OF NOTE
  • Ruffolo has tallied a pair of holes in one in her Georgetown career. Both have been at Callawassie Island Club as part of the BIG EAST Championships. Her first was in the first round of the 2024 BIG EAST Championships on hole 17.
  • Burton's trio of birdies in round two were on holes 15, 16 and 17 as she strung together three straight.
