WASHINGTON – Georgetown University's women's openweight rowing team tested its speed against a deep national field this weekend at the Lake Wheeler Invitational. Over two days of high-level racing on Lake Wheeler, the Hoyas competed across three rounds of heats, facing off against top-tier programs from the ACC, Big 12 and Patriot League.
The weekend was highlighted by consistent performances from the Hoya fours. The Second Varsity Four also found success in the third round on Saturday morning, clocking a 7:32.89 to take third in a tightly-contested heat, finishing just over a second behind second-place Louisville.
In the eights, the Hoyas battled through challenging morning and afternoon sessions. The Second Varsity Eight showed grit in the final round on Saturday, recording a 6:52.70. The First Varsity Eight concluded their weekend in Raleigh with a 6:51.55 in their final heat, while the Third Varsity Eight posted a weekend-best 6:58.70 during the opening round on Friday.
