Hoyas Finish Third at BIG EAST Women’s Golf Championships

WASHINGTON – The Georgetown women's golf team finished third at the 2026 BIG EAST Championships, presented by JEEP, with a three-day score of 32-over 896 (303-287-306). The seven-team field competed on the par-72, 6,230-yard course at the Callawassie Island Club. Xavier won its seventh-straight title at 7-over 871 (301-285-285). St. John's narrowly defeated the Hoyas with a 29-over 893 (304-287-302).
 
HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Georgia Ruffolo remained as the top Hoya on the leaderboard, finishing fourth at 5-over 221 (73-70-78). Over three days, she tallied one eagle (0/1/0), seven birdies (3/3/1) and 33 pars (11/11/11).
  • Sunny Wang moved up one spot to tie for seventh place. Wang closed the tournament at 9-over 225 (76-73-76). Following 54 holes, she recorded four birdies (0/2/2) and a squad-best 40 pars (14/13/13).
  • Gabriella Eifrig moved up two spots to have sole possession of 11th place at 10-over 226 (77-74-75). After three rounds, she tallied nine birdies (4/2/3) and 30 pars (7/12/11).
  • Milla Sagel finished 14th at 12-over 228 (77-73-78). By tournament's end, she managed four birdies (1/2/1) and 35 pars (12/13/10).
  • Moving up two spots, Catherine Qiu tied for 15th at 14-over 230 (82-71-77). Over three days, she recorded seven birdies (2/4/1) and 29 pars (7/11/11).
  • At 21-over 237 (81-75-81), Mimi Burton tied for 29th place. Following 54 holes, she managed six birdies (2/3/1) and 26 pars (7/9/10).
 
OF NOTE
  • This marks the second time in program history the Hoyas have finished third with the first time being in 2009 when GU tied for third in the eight-team field.
  • The Blue & Gray was one of three squads to have multiple student-athletes finish among the top 10. Georgetown's two trailed Xavier and St. John's, who each had three apiece.
  • It is the second-best finish at the BIG EAST Championships for Ruffolo who tied for third in 2024.
  • In just her first BIG EAST Championship, Wang turned in a top-10 finish with a seventh-place finish.
