Hoyas Down Hawks, 13-9

WASHINGTON – The Georgetown University baseball team defeated the University of Maryland Eastern Shore Hawks 13-9  on Tuesday night at Capital One Park. With the win in Tysons, Virginia, the Hoyas improve to 18-15 on the season and 1-2 in conference play while the Hawks slip to 5-23 and 4-11 in league action.

ON THE RECORD

"I think that that was midweek baseball at its finest. You know, every game's hard. Obviously to come out of there with a victory, we were really fortunate. We did not play our best, but UMES had a lot to do with that, and they came out early and they had a lead, and we were able to kind of separate ourselves a little bit. We found a way to score late, which was great, to score two there in the eighth. Charlie Hendrix gave us a really good start and then Griffin O'Connor came in and kind of stabilized everything. Offensively, you know, I thought Jordan Kahn had the big hit there in the big inning that we had. So, you know, all in all, a win that we're always going to take. So I am proud of our guys for taking care of a midweek game - Head Coach Edwin Thompson
