Georgetown Takes Down Creighton, Wins Series 2-1

WASHINGTON – The Georgetown University baseball team defeated the Creighton University Bluejays 5-2 on Sunday afternoon at Charles Schwab Field Omaha. With the win in Omaha, Nebraska the Hoyas improve to 26-26 overall and 7-11 in conference play while the Bluejays slip to 28-21 on the season and 12-6 in league action.

ON THE RECORD

"I'm so proud of everyone in our organization for coming out today and winning this series. To beat a team like this and win the series for the third time in four years says a lot about our group, and I'm especially proud of our seniors for the way they competed and helped leave that mark on this program. I thought today's game came down to toughness and grit. Our guys really wanted it, especially on a Sunday, which is something we've built our program around. After yesterday's difficult loss, I was incredibly proud of the way we responded. Our pitching staff was outstanding, allowing just two runs on three hits, and our bullpen gave us everything we needed. Defensively, we were phenomenal, and offensively, we found ways to manufacture runs when it mattered most. I thought today was a true reflection of what our organization and our university stand for, competing the right way, staying resilient and finding a way to beat a really good team in a tough environment. I couldn't be prouder of our group, and now we're looking forward to getting back to the DMV."- Head Coach Edwin Thompson
