WASHINGTON – Four Hoyas earned All-America honors for their performances at the NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships in Eugene, Oregon, last week, as announced by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association on Monday. Each of Georgetown's national qualifiers earned an All-America honor in their respective events.
Jaden Marchan | 400m | First Team All-American
- Marchan earned first-team All-America honors after placing seventh in the 400m final with a mark of 44.87 on Friday.
- The New Jersey native broke his own outdoor 400m record twice within three days at the NCAA First Rounds to qualify for outdoor nationals. He took second in his prelim heat to secure his spot in the 400m final, becoming the first athlete in program history to compete in an NCAA Outdoor Championships sprint final.
Barrett Justema | 3,000m Steeplechase | Second Team All-American
- Justema wrapped up her postseason run with a 10th-place finish (9:53.46) in the women's 3,000m steeplechase final on Saturday, becoming the first athlete in program history to compete in the women's steeplechase final at the NCAA outdoor championships.
- Before the NCAA final, Justema set personal bests and broke the program record in three consecutive races beginning at the Big East Outdoor Championships, where she ran 10:04.25. She followed that performance with a 9:51.28 mark at the NCAA East First Round to become the first Hoya with a sub-10-minute time in the event. She then went sub-9:50 in the NCAA preliminary race, posting 9:45.58.
Tinoda Matsatsa | 800m | Second Team All-American
- Matsatsa finished 10th in the 800m prelims on Wednesday, taking fifth in his heat with a time of 1:45.92.
- The junior punched his ticket to nationals by shattering the program record with a mark of 1:44.75 in the quarterfinals.
- This is Matsatsa's fourth consecutive All-America recognition and second of the year.
Charlotte Tomkinson | 1,500m | Second Team All-American
- Tomkinson reached nationals for a second consecutive season in the 1,500m and finished with the 15th-fastest mark (4:11.16) among the field.
- This is the first All-America honor of Tomkinson's collegiate career.
