Georgetown Football Names Five 2026 Team Captains

WASHINGTON – Georgetown University Football Head Coach Rob Sgarlata has announced that Wedner Cadet, Jacob Holtschlag, Chigozie Oge-Evans, Mosiah Talanoa, and Braylon Wise will lead the Hoyas as team captains for the upcoming 2026 season.

Cornerback Cadet enters the 2026 season after appearing in three games for the Hoyas in 2025. The graduate student recorded seven tackles, including four solo stops and three assists, and forced a fumble. Over his five-year career for the Blue & Gray, Cadet has appeared in 22 games, totaling 68 tackles, four interceptions, 12 pass breakups, three forced fumbles and two fumble recoveries. In his debut season, Wedner was named to the HERO Sports' FCS All-American Freshman Team, the 2022 Stats Perform FCS All-American Team and also was on the 2022 FCS Jerry Rice Award Watch List.

Quarterback Holtschlag enters his senior season after appearing in six career games for the Hoyas. In 2024, the Hingham, Massachusetts native completed 34 passes for 337 yards, highlighted by a career-long completion of 48 yards, while adding 17 rushing yards on the ground.

Defensive lineman Oge-Evans started all 12 games for the Hoyas in 2025, earning All-Patriot League Second Team honors on defense after a breakout campaign. The senior posted career highs with 27 tackles, including 18 solo stops and nine assisted tackles, while adding four sacks for 26 yards lost, one pass breakup and a forced fumble. Over 22 career appearances for the Blue & Gray, Oge-Evans has totaled 44 tackles.

Offensive lineman Talanoa appeared in all 12 games for the Hoyas in 2025. The senior has played in 27 career games for the Blue & Gray and earned Phil Steele Patriot League Preseason All-Conference Third Team honors entering the 2024 season. Talanoa anchored an offensive line that paved the way for a rushing attack that amassed 2,099 yards, Georgetown's highest team rushing total in more than seven seasons.

Senior safety Wise started all 12 games for the Hoyas in 2025, finishing with 55 tackles, including 38 solo stops and 17 assisted tackles, while adding three pass breakups. Over his three seasons with the Blue & Gray, the Sherman Oaks, California native has appeared in 27 games, totaling 92 tackles (68 solo, 24 assisted), two interceptions and 11 pass breakups. Wise earned Patriot League Weekly Honorable Mention honors after posting a career-high 14 tackles, one pass breakup and 0.5 tackles for loss against Colgate in 2025, was named to the Phil Steele Patriot League Preseason All-Conference Second Team in 2025 and is a three-time Patriot League Academic Honor Roll selection.
