WASHINGTON – Two Georgetown University rowers have been named to the roster for the 2026 Under 23 National Team by USRowing on Tuesday. Sophomore
Michael Ruschmann and junior
Thomas Segrera will represent the United States in the men's quadruple scull at the World Rowing Under 23 Championships in Duisburg, Germany, from July 23-26.
The U.S. will compete in 14 events, including the men's and women's single sculls, pairs, quadruple sculls, fours, and eights, as well as the lightweight men's and women's single sculls and the lightweight men's double sculls.
This past season, Segrera sat in the stroke seat of the Varsity 8+ for the Hoyas, while Ruschmann was in the seven seat.
Both athletes had to go through a selection process to make the boat and then win trials to advance. Their teammates are both rowers from Princeton University.
This is the second time in four years that the Hoyas have boasted a pair of U-23 team members as Eli Rabinowitz and Ruben Luthra represented the United States competing at the 2023 Under-23 World Rowing Championships.
"The program is incredibly proud of Michael and Thomas for not only receiving an invite to U-23 camp, but to subsequently perform well throughout the selection process and make the team which speaks volumes about their talent and commitment to the sport," said members of the Georgetown coaching staff. "We are excited to watch the entire team, which is comprised of the best rowers in the country compete at the World Championships."
