WASHINGTON – Georgetown volleyball dropped a 3-0 decision (23-25, 15-25, 17-25) to Northwestern on Sunday afternoon at McDonough Arena in the finale of the DC Challenge. With the loss, the Hoyas fall to 2-1 on the season while the Wildcats improve to 1-2.
Eight service errors plagued Georgetown in the opening frame despite a strong net presence from
Kamryn Lee-Caracci and
Dionna Mitchell. The duo combined for nine kills, including an .857 hitting percentage from Lee-Caracci, but five kills from Northwestern's Mara Stiglic helped the Wildcats edge out a 25-23 set victory.
The teams traded points early in the second frame before Northwestern put together a 5-1 run behind three kills and a block from Isabella Bullington to build a 15-10 lead. The Wildcats maintained control down the stretch to claim the set 25-15.
Georgetown battled through a tight third set before a kill by Campbell Paris sparked a 4-0 Northwestern run, pushing the Wildcats ahead 12-8 to force a Hoya timeout. The Hoyas trimmed the deficit to one following a 3-0 response, but Northwestern answered to close out the set 25-17 and complete the 3-0 sweep.
