WASHINGTON – The Georgetown University volleyball team earned its second straight-set victory of the week and fifth sweep of the season, defeating George Washington 3-0 (25-17, 25-14, 25-22) on Friday night inside McDonough Arena. With the win, the Hoyas improve to 8-3 overall, while the Revolutionaries fall to 4-7.

After falling behind 13-11 early in the first set, the Hoyas mounted a comeback behind multiple scoring runs, including a 7-0 surge that built a 21-15 lead. Georgetown closed out the opening frame 25-17 as
Kamryn Lee-Caracci floored seven kills on a .667 hitting percentage.
Grace Albaugh served up three aces to help open the second set on a 6-0 run. George Washington trimmed a 12-4 deficit down to 13-9 following a 5-1 rally, but the Hoyas answered out of a timeout. Georgetown took four of the next five points and pulled away for a 25-14 victory.
The Revolutionaries jumped out to an 8-4 lead in the third set, but Georgetown found its rhythm midway through, outscoring GW 9-3 to take a 13-11 advantage. The Hoyas fended off a late rally from the Revolutionaries to seal the set 25-22, capped by clutch blocks from
Katherine McGregor and Lee-Caracci.
Hoya Highlights
- Lee-Caracci led the attack with a match-high 13 kills on a blistering .706 hitting percentage, while Dionna Mitchell floored 12 kills and Albaugh added eight.
- Juleigh Urbina orchestrated the offense with a match-high 32 assists.
- Taylor Mercado paced the back row with a match-high 17 digs, while Mitchell recorded 11 to secure a double-double and Urbina chipped in eight.
- Albaugh and Urbina each dropped a match-high three service aces.
- Katherine McGregor spearheaded the net defense with five total blocks, while Berkeley Ploder added four and Lee-Caracci recorded three.
- Georgetown hit .320 as a team on 42 kills, while holding George Washington to a .125 mark with just 30 kills.
- The Hoyas controlled the service line with a 9-3 advantage in aces.
