RICHMOND, Va. – The Georgetown University football team fell to the Richmond Spiders on a last second field goal, 24-21 on Saturday evening at Robins Stadium. With the loss in Richmond, Virginia, the Hoyas slip to 0-2 and 0-2 in Patriot League play while the Spiders improve to 3-1 and 3-0 in league action.

HOYA HIGHLIGHTS
- Jack Johnson completed 14 of 23 passes for 193 yards and three touchdowns.
- Jayden Sumpter led Georgetown's rushing attack with 92 yards on 11 carries, while Clay Ash added 27 rushing yards.
- Hassan Mahasin hauled in four receptions for 121 yards and a touchdown. Isaiah recorded three catches, including a touchdown, while Burke Carroll added a touchdown on his lone reception.
- Jack Casey and Brian Lloyd paced the Hoya defense with eight tackles apiece. Chigozie Oge-Evans recorded a sack, while Henry Eber blocked a field-goal attempt.
- Georgetown finished with 305 total yards of offense.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Despite missing its opening field-goal attempt, Richmond got on the board first at the 2:55 mark of the first quarter when Aziz Foster-Powell broke free for a 33-yard rushing touchdown to give the Spiders a 7-0 lead.
- Foster-Powell found the end zone again with 12:26 remaining in the second quarter, extending Richmond's advantage to 14-0.
- Georgetown answered less than a minute later as Johnson connected with Mahasin for a 71-yard touchdown pass down the near sideline, cutting the deficit to 14-7.
- With 2:42 remaining in the first half, Foster-Powell scored his third rushing touchdown of the game to put Richmond ahead 21-7. The Spiders attempted another field goal with 19 seconds remaining, but Eber came through with a block to keep Georgetown within two scores heading into halftime.
- Georgetown struck first after the break, marching 90 yards on a scoring drive that ended with Johnson rolling out of the pocket and finding Grimes for a touchdown, trimming Richmond's lead to 21-14.
- Richmond lined up for its fourth field-goal attempt of the game with 2:24 remaining in the third quarter but was unable to convert, moving the Spiders to 0-for-4 on field-goal attempts and giving Georgetown possession.
- The Hoyas capitalized with a 15-play, 96-yard scoring drive that ended with Carroll going up over a Richmond defender to haul in a touchdown pass and tie the game at 21-21 with 5:20 remaining in the fourth quarter.
- Richmond ultimately went on to seal the narrow victory as the Spiders converted a 49-yard field goal as time expired to secure the 24-21 win.
