WASHINGTON, D.C. – The Georgetown University football team fell to the Lehigh Mountain Hawks, 45-14 on Saturday afternoon at Cooper Field. With the setback in Washington, D.C., the Hoyas slip to 0-1 and 0-1 in Patriot League play while the Mountain Hawks improve to 2-0 and 2-0 in league action.

"You know, obviously not the result we were looking for. You know, came out early and were able to force a turnover and force a score on defense. Never really could find a rhythm on offense today, and that's something that we'll work on here coming into the bye week as we really just concentrate on looking at what we can do to make ourselves better. HOYA HIGHLIGHTS
- Michael Bonsu recorded his first career fumble recovery for a touchdown, becoming the first Hoya to return a fumble for a touchdown since Quincy Briggs did so against Davidson on August 31, 2024.
- Jack Johnson completed 5-of-10 passes for 53 yards and a touchdown, while Jacob Holtschlag finished 7-of-15 for 71 yards through the air.
- Johnson led Georgetown with 46 rushing yards, including a 38-yard long, while Clay Ash added 20 yards on nine carries.
- Jonathan Alexander hauled in four receptions for 33 yards and a touchdown, while Jayvin Pyle-Thompson added four catches for 56 yards.
- Brian Allen paced the Hoya defense with 14 total tackles, while Isaac Saffold recorded seven tackles.
- Georgetown's defense forced and recovered three fumbles on the afternoon.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The visiting Mountain Hawks opened up the scoring in the first quarter of the contest on an 11-play, 68-yard drive where Luke Yoder managed to punch the ball across the goal line on a four-yard rush.
- The Hoyas bounced back in the second quarter when Brian Allen forced a fumble on a quarterback rush that Bonsu quickly recovered and took to the end zone to tie the ballgame up at 7-7.
- LU managed to add a pair of touchdowns in the second quarter on a 20-yard rush and a receiving touchdown, both from Yoder. The visitors tacked on a field goal with 34 seconds left in the half, and the Hoyas went into the locker room trailing 24-7.
- Lehigh added to its lead in the third quarter as Yoder rushed for his fourth touchdown of the day, extending the visitor's advantage to 31-7.
- Johnson connected with Alexander for a late passing touchdown in the back of the end zone, but Lehigh's two touchdowns earlier in the fourth quarter had already put the game out of reach as the Mountain Hawks secured a 45-14 victory.
