The Georgetown University Sports Performance Department aspires to promote our core principles of respect, honesty, dedication, integrity, perseverance, and accountability. We do this while following the guidelines of our certifying bodies, the National Strength and Conditioning Association and the Collegiate Strength and Conditioning Coaches Association.
Injury Prevention in Sport: The Iron Hoyas primary goal is to ensure that the athlete is able to compete to their full potential while remaining injury-free.
Increased Performance in Sport: "All other things being equal, the more powerful athlete will always beat the less powerful athlete" (Rippetoe, 2006).
Positive Athlete Experience: At the end of their competitive careers, our athletes will have developed important leadership and work ethic characteristics as well as a lifelong passion for exercise and physical activity.
