In each of her four years on the Hilltop, Miesha helped her team to top ten finishes in the NCAA cross country championships. As a junior, she led the Hoyas to sixth place in both the indoor and outdoor NCAA track and field championships and to a seventh place indoor finish in her senior year. At the ECAC indoor championships, her team captured team titles in 1994 and 1996.  Miesha also helped Georgetown to BIG EAST indoor championships in 1995 and 1996 and to an outdoor championship in 1996.

Miesha excelled both in individual events and in relays. She claimed the NCAA championship outdoor crown in the 1500-meters in 1996. The following year, she was the NCAA runner-up in the indoor mile. Miesha’s second NCAA championship title came in 1997 as the anchor leg of Georgetown’s indoor distance medley team. In addition, she won multiple ECAC championships: two individual 800-meter outdoor titles and three 4x800 relay titles (one indoor and two outdoor). Throughout her college career, Miesha was also a dominating presence at the BIG EAST indoor and outdoor championships. She finished with two individual indoor titles in the mile and two in the 1000-meter event, as well as two outdoor relay championships in the 4x800 event and one in the 4x1500 relay. In her junior year, Miesha helped the Hoyas to two Penn Relay championships as a member of the 4x800 and distance medley relay teams.

Before graduating, Miesha left her name on 14 new school records: two individual indoor records (800-meters and mile); three individual outdoor records (800-meters, 1500-meters, and mile); four relay team records (4x800 outdoor, 4x1500 outdoor, distance medley indoor and outdoor); and five relay individual leg records (800-meters, 1200-meters, 1500-meters, and mile).

Under the guidance of Coach Ron Helmer, Miesha was an eleven-time All- America performer, twice a recipient of Georgetown’s Bunn Award for outstanding cross-country performer, and a two-time Gallagher awardee for outstanding track & field competitor on the Hilltop.

An active volunteer with Georgetown Athletics’ mentorship program for DC elementary school youth, Miesha graduated with a degree in Psychology from the College in 1997. Subsequently, Miesha continued to compete with the Santa Monica Track and Field Team and qualified for the Olympic Trials in 2000 at 800-meters and 2008 at 1500- meters. She continued her education at the University of Southern California, earning a master’s degree in social work in 2002 and a PhD in Biobehavioral Health at Penn State University in 2011. Miesha is currently an assistant professor at Binghamton University where she teaches MSW graduate students as well as doctoral students and enjoys helping them achieve their academic goals.
