Realizing a lifelong dream to play for his father, Scott enrolled at Georgetown, where Coach Dave Urick was building a perennial top ten program. In 1997, his first season on the field for the Hoyas, he took part in the biggest upset in program history, scoring a goal and an assist in Georgetown’s first-ever victory against #2-ranked Syracuse, 14-9.
A fierce competitor, he remains the school’s all-time leading goal scorer with 144 goals, and is ranked second in school history for goals in a single season with 47. Scott was a two-time All-America selection, team captain in both his junior and senior years, team MVP, and recipient of the outstanding offensive player award.
Scott helped lead his team to four NCAA Tournament appearances, including the 1999 team, which advanced to the NCAA semi-finals. The only Hoya ever selected to an NCAA All-Tournament team, he also represented Georgetown in the 2000 North-South All-Star Game, where he earned team MVP accolades.
Over Scott’s playing career, the Hoyas enjoyed a winning percentage of .733, the best four-year winning percentage to-date on the Hilltop. In 1999, the Hoyas won 13 games, setting a new Georgetown record for most victories in a season. Leading the most prolific offense in Hoya lacrosse history, Scott and his teammates scored an average of 15 goals per game in 2000.
Scott also starred in international competition as a member of U.S. National Team at the 2006 World Championships in Ontario, Canada. The sharpshooter led the team with 20 goals, helping the team win the silver medal.
Scott concluded his playing career as one of the most decorated lacrosse players in the history of the game. He competed in the Major Lacrosse League for nine years with the New Jersey Pride and Washington Bayhawks. A four-time MLL all-star selection, he was named the most valuable player of the 2002 MLL All-Star Game. Scott scored 234 goals in 102 career games before retiring in 2009 as the third all-time leading scorer in Major League Lacrosse history.
Scott graduated from the College in 2000, majoring in Government with a minor in Theology. He subsequently took up coaching, spending a year as an assistant at Cornell University, before returning to his alma mater in 2001. Scott spent 11 seasons on the Hoya sidelines, as assistant coach and offensive coordinator. During his tenure, the Hoyas reached the NCAA quarterfinals six times and captured four conference titles. Twelve of his players earned All-America honors and three were named the outstanding offensive player in the conference.
In 2012, Scott took on a new challenge as head coach of a start-up men’s lacrosse program at the University of the District of Columbia. In three seasons of competing, his teams advanced further each year and positioned for even greater success. Georgetown Prep hired Scott to take over its vaunted lacrosse program in 2016. He also serves as Assistant Director of Athletics for the Little Hoyas. He was inducted into the regional U.S. Lacrosse Hall of Fame in 2011.
